Siskiyou Singers, celebrating 40 years of creating engaging choral music for the Rogue Valley, is seeking talented and passionate singers as the choir returns to in-person rehearsals and performances in 2022.
Starting January 25, the choir will rehearse on Tuesday evenings at First United Methodist Church in Ashland. New singers interested in joining the group should email Director Mark Reppert at markreppert@gmail.com prior to January 24 to schedule an online audition via Zoom. Auditions will consist of vocalizing for range and vocal quality and a simple test of sight-reading abilities.
The theme of the Spring 2022 concert is “Beautiful Words,” focusing on compositions set to the words of poets ranging from William Shakespeare to Leonard Cohen. Concerts will be presented at Southern Oregon University’s Music Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. May 7 and 3 p.m. May 8.
Registration for the season is $35. Sheet music and rehearsal recordings will be provided. Proof of COVID vaccination, including boosters, will be required; singers will be distanced during rehearsals and provided with special singing masks.
Siskiyou Singers is a community choir emphasizing high-quality performances that are accessible and affordable to listeners of all ages and interests. The choir’s repertoire is diverse, encompassing both sacred and secular music from Renaissance madrigals to American spirituals, from 18th century masses to multi-cultural and modernist compositions of today.
