Happy New Year! I hope your holiday celebration was thoroughly enjoyable! I look forward to seeing all of you next Tuesday.
December Concert
What a tremendous success! We gave a wonderful gift to the community and it was truly appreciated. It was so fun to see all the kids and adults having a great time. And the goodwill we sent out is coming back to us. We will look into ways to make this success an annual occurrence.
Upcoming Events
Jan. 7, 7 PM – Rehearsal in the Sanctuary (see schedule, such as it is, below)
Jan 13, 7 PM – Orchestra-only rehearsal in Wesley Hall. You are invited to come and listen, following along in your scores.
Jan 14, 7 PM – Rehearsal with orchestra in Wesley Hall. Because set up is complicated, please arrive 10 minutes early
Jan 17, 7 PM – Tech Run-through at SOU Music Recital Hall. In contrast to our Dec. 13 rehearsal, this one will go long.
Jan 18, 3 PM – Performance at SOU. Call is 1:30. Concert Dress.
Jan 19, 3 PM – Performance at SOU. Call is 2:00.
Feb. 4, 7 PM – First rehearsal for the new term. Performances will be May 10 and 11.
Spring Concerts
I will be sending a full welcome letter to you and the rest of our Siskiyou Singers community soon, but here is a little hint. The theme of the program is “Earth Song” and the music will celebrate nature. The music spans the centuries from “Sweet Suffolk Owl” by the English Renaissance composer Thomas Vautor to a whimsical arrangement of “Big Yellow Taxi” by Joni Mitchell, with Brahms, Whitacre, and Reppert (hee hee), among others. We will begin rehearsals Feb. 4 and our concerts will be held at SOU, as usual, on May 10 and 11.
