Notes 10-1

Dear Singers
Excellent rehearsal! One goal for Saturday is to run the Vivaldi completely. We need the most work on #7, so please take a look at that. Yes, we will do other pieces as well.
Some notes…
Notes
Bernstein 2
  • “ch” needs to be strong
  • mm 56: Realize that humming automatically makes your singing pp. You should be singing f in order to get to p.
  • m 66 cutoff on the downbeat. This is very important–count! (1 2 3 4 off!)
Blackbird
  • Sopranos: very good work on the rhythm, mm 40 – end, but take one more look, please.
Vivaldi 12 (Cum Sancto Spiritu)
  • The subject of the fugue should be legato (half notes)
  • The countersubject of the fugue should be marcato (quarter notes)
  • If you are unclear on the breathing, ask me or your section leader
Bernstein 1
  • There are many “u’s” in the Hebrew. They are getting lost. Please make sure you open all “u’s” up as much as possible while still making it sound like an ooh.
Vivaldi 1
  • The cresc. from 40 – 45 needs to be stronger–poco a poco
