Notes 1-7

Dear Singers

We solved many problems last night. If I haven’t mentioned it, I am very excited about this program. It is going to be spectacular!

Some notes…

Notes

Vivaldi 1

  • GL – oria
  • Make sure to make the “o” big and round–do not close to an American “oh”.

Vivaldi 4

  • Take another look at this one. “Propter Magnam” seemed to catch us by surprise.
  • Flipped “r” and, again, round “oh”
  • Altos m 23: you are the stars

Vivaldi 7

  • Don’t get lazy with the dotted eighth-sixteenth rhythm
  • Then, by way of contrast, make sure the eighth stands out in the dotted quarter-eighth-quarter rhythm
  • Review mm 40 – 53
  • mm 78 and 84 – cutoff on 3

Vivaldi 11

  • Write in the count of the measures of introduction. It is different from Vivaldi 1

Vivaldi 12

  • Long instrumental interludes in this one. Write in the count before each of your entrances
  • Sops m 54 – 56: Count before your entrance “3-4-1-2-3-4-1”
  • m 73 beat 3 begins the meno mosso (trans: “less motion”–i.e. slow down). Don’t forget the breath after 76, beat 2.

Bernstein 1

  • Review mm 44 – 47

Bernstein 2

  • TB review mm 100-102
  • Altos review mm 103 – 117. It is most important that you get to the downbeats on time! (whatever syllables you sing in between)🙂
  • Great job on the last 11 bars!
  • Sit afterward

Bernstein 3

  • Quietly stand at m 16
  • Don’t forget VERY different dynamics starting at 49.

Boogie Fever

  • You look very good. Don’t forget to sing too.🙂
