Journey across musical eras and styles with Siskiyou Singers and Artistic Director Mark Reppert as they present A Joyful Noise, a winter concert featuring jubilant choral pieces ranging from Leonard Bernstein to the Beatles.
Performances will be at SOU’s Music Recital Hall in Ashland on Saturday, January 18 at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 19 at 3:00 p.m. General admission is $25 ($5 for students and Oregon Trail Card holders). Tickets are available from choir members, at Music Coop or Paddington Station in Ashland, online, or at the door. There will also be a free lecture about the music by musicologist Ed White one hour before each performance.
This presentation will feature two concert masterpieces accompanied by a full orchestra in the first half. Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria” is an expressive baroque classic exploring a wonderful range of emotions. And “Chichester Psalms,” one of Bernstein’s most loved works, will delight and inspire. In sharp contrast, the second half of the concert will highlight pop classics from the last 50 years, including choral arrangements of the Beatles, Billy Joel, Carole King and even the disco hit “Boogie Fever.”
Don’t miss this magnificent musical voyage for one and all.
