Notes 11-5

Dear Singers
Although the rehearsal was short, it was effective. I am so happy that almost everyone was there last night despite other events. Thank you!
Program Order(s)
Below you will find the program orders for the two different programs. It is time to put your music in performance order since more and more we will running sections. Please use a black folder for performances. Ring binders work well or you can use the traditional choral folder. I will let you know about the Mountain Meadow program soon.
Congratulations to our soloists. I was so pleased to have a wonderful slate of soloists to choose from. I would have been proud to present any of the people who auditioned. As they say in the theatre biz, I chose the people who were right for the part.
Some notes…
Notes
Vivaldi 4
  • Make sure to lean toward the syllabic accents: GRA – ti – as A – gi – mus TI – bi
  • Put a lot of energy into the main subject of the fugue: “Pro-ter ma-gnam glo……”
  • mm 21 – end: be sure to create a sense of cresc. all the way to the end
  • A reminder: Sopranos, the notes in m 16 are B B B B (the edition was wrong)
Vivaldi 8
  • Excellent work. Very expressive.
  • Syllabic accents!
  • To review: 1st entrance mp, 2nd entrance mf, 3rd entrance mf, 4th entrance p, 5th and 6th entrance f, 7th entrance cresc., 8th entrance p.
Bernstein 2
  • Tenors and Basses: excellent work! It is not easy!
  • Unfortunately I felt the press of time last night. I will let Laurie Anne deal with the trainwreck at 102.🙂
Let It Snow
  • Sopranos: drill the entrances, “Let It Snow” so that the syncopations are not late.
