Rehearsal Schedule 11-5

Dear Singers
We are sounding wonderful as a choir right now! I am really enjoying our rehearsals. Thank you for putting up with my nit-picking.
Short Rehearsal This Week
I am planning to be finished at 8:20 pm. You can then go home and find out the news. I think many of us will appreciate this distraction.
Laurie Hunter will be your director on Nov. 12
I will prepare a rehearsal schedule as usual and Laurie will execute it. It is wonderful to have a different approach to the solutions of the problems that arise in rehearsal.
New Seating Nov. 19
The seating is intended to make our overall choir better. Most people feel that it makes their own experience better as well, in the long run. To many it is a revelation to hear the other parts around you and realize the totality of the music. It is easy in the midst of your section to forget that music is a grand collaboration among a variety of musical ideas.
That said, I realize that we all have our individual issues. I will be sending a rough draft to the section leaders for their input. Please do not hesitate to ask for help from me or your section leader if you try and can’t make it work. Last term we had four progressive versions of the seating chart. We have had as many as ten! Also, we also recognize that there is a transition period…
Mountain Meadows Performance
We will be singing at the Mountain Meadows Community on Dec. 3 at 7 PM. The call is 6:15. As we get closer we will give you directions and more info about the performance situation. The idea of this program is to give our audience a preview of our programs as well as give ourselves a dress-rehearsal-type situation. The program will run about 45 minutes and include music from both programs. My program selection is mainly focused on giving us experience with some of the more scary parts of each program and giving soloists some opportunities as well. More on this later.
Don’t forget to say “hi” to Jina Lako and Eli Tukuzwe
I am not expecting memorization on Baba Yetu, but the closer you get the more energy and enjoyment you will be able to transmit to our audience. BTW, this piece will most likely be on the Mtn. Meadows performance.
See you Tuesday!
Mark
