Rehearsal Schedule 9-24

Dear Singers
We are making great progress on some tricky literature. I look forward to tackling it again this week!
Tenors and Basses then Sopranos and Altos This Week
The tenors and basses will start rehearsal at 7:00 PM, with warmup and then rehearsal Bernstein 2–a tricky, long passage. Sopranos and Altos will join us at 7:40. Sops and Alts will need to take care of their own warmups or may join us at 7 PM.
Workshop October 5
The workshop runs from 9 – 3 on Saturday, Oct. 5. and will be held at the 1st Presbyterian Church. The church is located at 1615 Clark Ave in Ashland. Continue south on Siskiyou Blvd. past the university and you will see it on the right.
This time provides us the opportunity to explore many musical things in more depth including background on the pieces and their composers. We will have the opportunity to spend extra time on our voices with a somewhat extended warmup time. We will also be able to run longer sections of the music to get the sense of the true flow.
Most importantly, though, is the chance to get to know each other better. We will play a fun, non-threatening game which might give you a chance to learn about what an interesting, intelligent bunch of people you sing with! We will have a social time with snacks at 9 AM (and, yes, donuts!).
Things to bring:
  • Your own lunch
  • Water bottle and straw (if you have it)
  • “Holiday Jazz Trio”, “Christmas Jazz Trio”, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” if you have them (we are depending on those people who said they did)
Politics-free Zone
One of the wonderful things about being a member of Siskiyou Singers is that different people of different persuasions come together and work together to make beautiful music. It is important that we stay mindful and avoid saying things that might be hurtful to another person in our group.
See you Tuesday!
Mark
